My story, unfolding

Painting talks

I re-discovered painting during the quiet of the pandemic—a time when the world paused, and I finally listened. What began as a simple experiment, translating an old film still onto canvas, quickly became something undeniable. What if I tried another? And another? One idea led to the next, each one pulling me further into this world of oil and pigment.

Before that, my creative path led me through photography. I pursued it, lived it, loved it—until I didn’t. While analog photography captivated me, I found myself restricted by its limits. My visions demanded more. I wanted to create scenes that didn’t exist, to build something that felt both cinematic and surreal. But in photography, it often felt like I was chasing moments rather than shaping them.

When I left Amsterdam and returned to the south of the Netherlands, I gave myself time to reflect. I had been searching for a creative language that allowed me complete freedom. And then, one day, I picked up a brush. I didn’t start small—I dove straight in, figuring things out along the way. Trial and error became part of the process, each painting teaching me something new.

Paintings hanging to dry in my studio

Over time, my paintings grew—larger, richer, more intricate. Acrylic gave way to oil, and my ideas became more ambitious. I found myself drawn to subjects that felt timeless yet otherworldly, cinematic yet intimate. My inspirations deepened, my process refined.

Now, I step fully into this world, ready to see how far I can take it. Painting is no longer just something I do, it has become my life!
